Hey you! Yes you! Thanks for checking out the about me page. I'm Amber Hempen. I'm a small business owner, a photographer, a pet owner, Netflix fan and a nerd at heart. For me, photography is all about the experience. I love to not only take your photo, but create a fun environment where you can relax and just be yourself. I want you to walk away thinking "Wow! I can't wait to work with Amber again!" Ignore the camera in my hands. It's just me, and we're just hanging out having fun.
This year I am teaming up with my amazing boyfriend Eric DePangher of Sightglass Photography to shoot weddings! We are super excited to be able to work together and have fun with you.
We like to capture real life. The real you. Not some stuffy, overly formal, posed images that you'll look back at years later and wonder what you were thinking. (But if you want lots of formals we will do it and ROCK it) We like to have fun with my clients who then become my friends!
Amber's family & friends are so very important to me. Without their support, I wouldn't be able to pursue my dreams of owning my own business. I love my dog Lilly like she is my child. I have a loving boyfriend who is also a photographer (I swore I would never fall in love with a photographer and of course I did lol). I love spending time with my nieces and nephews as much as I can. They range from 24 years old to 18 months old. When my 5 year old nice Kylie told me she wanted to take photos like me it melted my heart. I LOVE movies and my favorite's are horror movies (I love the campy B movies of the 1980's the most) and I also love classic film's such as Citizen Kane.
I was always into photography during childhood but really fell in love with photography my senior year of high school in yearbook class. I was the co-editor but really did a lot of the photography, I was the girl with the camera in my hand 24/7, that camera was a film camera BTW :) I attend college and got my Bachelors of Science in Communication from Portland State University in 2008. After having a hard time finding a "grown up job" I realized I LOVE photography and started working on my digital photography game. After years of hard work I am now a full time photographer who loves life.
